To be eligible, students must have a significant disability documented in an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan. They must also require supports in order to be successfully employed.

Structured training sessions offer individuals up to 25 hours a year in Exploration Counseling, Work-Based Learning, Workplace Readiness Training, Self-Advocacy, and Counseling on Post-Secondary Educational Options.

Job Exploration

Students complete interest inventories and explore their outcomes to help identify special interests and skills that could lead to a job/career that is a good fit.

Workplace Readiness Training

Workplace readiness training offers students the opportunity to learn work skills and social skills (soft skills) that are necessary for successful, independent living and employment.

Work-Based Learning

Students are afforded the opportunity to sample different jobs within their community. This provides the knowledge and skills to help connect school experiences to real-life work activities and future career opportunities.

Self-Advocacy Instruction

Students learn how to communicate their needs to others, and effectively convey, negotiate, and assert their own interests and desires. Self-awareness, knowledge of rights and responsibilities, communication skills, and leadership skills are areas that can be covered.
