URGENT ADVOCACY EFFORTS:
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve a budget resolution that sets the stage for Medicaid cuts. As Congress continues to consider legislation that could make deep cuts to the federal Medicaid program, we must push back on these attempts and tell Congress why Medicaid is so important to I/DD services. Extended Employment programs are facing a funding cut of $3.4 million under the FY2026 State Budget Proposal. As budget hearings continue, lawmakers must hear from constituents about the importance of restoring funding for Extended Employment, properly supporting Supported Employment, and ensuring DSPs receive a living wage. "Hi, I’m Hailey. A little about me: I like to draw and learn new things. I also like to meet new people. What I like about the CAT program is that I get to experience things I didn’t do before like going job sampling. I love learning about different jobs and how to do them. I also love how they teach us things we wouldn’t learn in school like job applications and life skills. If I was not taught these things, I feel like I would struggle to get a job and in life."
