URGENT ADVOCACY EFFORTS:
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve a budget resolution that sets the stage for Medicaid cuts. As Congress continues to consider legislation that could make deep cuts to the federal Medicaid program, we must push back on these attempts and tell Congress why Medicaid is so important to I/DD services. Extended Employment programs are facing a funding cut of $3.4 million under the FY2026 State Budget Proposal. As budget hearings continue, lawmakers must hear from constituents about the importance of restoring funding for Extended Employment, properly supporting Supported Employment, and ensuring DSPs receive a living wage. Join us in congratulating our New Jersey Association of Community Providers - NJACP Star, Darren "Reporter on the Scene" from Mary Apgar. ⭐️
Since joining the Abilities family at the Mary Apgar Center in November 2023, Darren has blossomed into a true STAR in our community! He joined us for three days per week, which quickly turned into five. Darren is key to ensuring our vegetable plants and flowers are well cared for, both in the center and in the greenhouse. As the official Reporter on the Scene, Darren leads daily surveys called “This or That,” and provides everyone with survey results, and other current updates for our monthly newsletter. Darren enjoys volunteering at the PossAbilities Thrift Boutique and the local animal shelter, where he provides shredding for their beds. Darren spreads his positive energy wherever he goes and makes the Mary Apgar center and our community shine brighter every day.
Congratulations Darren! You are a STAR in every way!

Hi there! My name is Max, and I work at Bentley’s Paragon Village in Hackettstown. When I’m not at work, you can find me binge-watching shows and movies on Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max (or just Max…I know, it’s ironic, but I had no say in the name change), Prime Video, and videos on YouTube. Some of the shows I’ve seen are Kim Possible, Pokémon Horizons: The Search for Laqua, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, and RWBY. I also love playing games on my phone, especially Pokémon Go. On my Nintendo Switch, I enjoy games like Pokémon Scarlet, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and Disney Speedstorm. I also love going to the movies with my family and friends. We’re planning on seeing some great movies together, like the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, the live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie, and the upcoming Disney Pixar animated movie Elio. I also enjoy playing games with my family, like Telestrations and Sorry!. We also play card games together, like Uno and Sequence. And sometimes, I play games with just regular cards with my grandpa on my mom’s side, like gin and casino. ... See MoreSee Less

🌱 The MSN crew has kicked off a fun new project—regrowing a pepper and an onion from kitchen scraps! We’ve started our onion in water to encourage root growth, with plans to transfer it to a pot and eventually into our outdoor garden bed. Everyone’s pitching in to care for it, and we’re excited to see if we can make it grow! 🧅🌶️
