Abilities of Northwest Jersey Receives CARF Accreditation

Abilities of Northwest Jersey Inc. has once again been awarded a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International) for its Community Employment Services.

The latest accreditation is the 14th consecutive accreditation that CARF International has awarded to Abilities, which continues to be the only non-profit organization in the northwest region of New Jersey with services accredited specifically for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The accreditation covers Administration, Employment Supports and Job Development, Organizational Employment, Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation, Employee Development and Student Transition Services with an “Autism Spectrum Disorder – Adults” designation for each accredited service.

CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that center on enhancing the lives of the persons served.

“This is a major accomplishment for Abilities because it’s the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization, and it demonstrates our substantial conformance to the CARF standards,” said Abilities CEO Cynthia B. Wildermuth.

CARF accreditation signals a service provider’s commitment to continually improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community.

Abilities, which undergoes a rigorous peer review process, again demonstrated to a team of CARF surveyors that it is committed to offering exceptional, high-quality services and programs.

“We are especially proud of the Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder population designation.  Our team works incredibly hard to ensure those living with ASD receive individualized services and supports that promote success,” said Wildermuth.
