Hackettstown

Vinnie and Matt enjoyed an outing to Waterloo village. They were excited to visit the chicken’s, Rooster’s llamas, and ducks. They walked along the canal and stopped with the group to discuss the old brick Pizza oven. They chose to take a water break by the waterfalls. The group encountered a snake on the path on the way back to the van. Vinnie and Matt had a great time as the appearance on their faces expressed joy.

Kevin, Becca, and Brianna explained a staff member presented an idea regarding how we Grow together not only individually but as a group. The consumers automatically filled the air with a variety of words that connected everyone. Kevin, Becca, and Brianna were excited to start on the project. They started glueing paper to the cardboard tree designed by staff. The next day they mixed dark brown and black to create the perfect color they painted the tree. On the 3rd day the group cut out leaves and flowers out of construction paper. The staff assisted everyone with writing words in the center of each flower. The group assisted the staff with hanging the tree on the wall and bulletin board stapling the leaves and flowers around the tree. Letters we printed out say “we grow together”. All the consumers at Hackettstown center assisted with shading the letters before cutting them out and putting them on the bulletin board.

Latest news and updates from your reporter on the scene; Darren.

This past month we went out on trips to Meadow Breeze Park for lunch, visited and volunteered at PossAbilities Thrift Store in Phillipsburg, Dairy Queen for lunch and ice cream and to the Hologram Zoo for the Space showing! We also went out on Meals at Home 6 times this month. I started getting the greenhouse cleaned up, took out the old roots from the pots and planted some new seeds. Then we watered everything we put in there and we should be growing some plants soon. I’m really looking forward to going out there every day to water them and see their progress. I’ve also enjoyed going for walks with my friends on the nice days we’ve been having.
