Our Family project by Florence
I am very excited about the art project called In This Place; We Fit. Sam explained to us how important this project is and that all Abilities will participate. Our names will be the most important thing, and the whole community will get to know us through this piece of art. I’m excited to finish it and see each member of Abilities’ art. This will be like a big family reunion.

Art class Valentines day
Alexander enjoyed the art class. He likes doing group activities and getting his hands covered in paint. Alexander wishes you a happy Valentine’s Day!

We all ordered Chinese food to enjoy at the center to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I enjoyed the noodles with chicken and vegetables. We made chocolate chip banana bread for National Banana Bread Day. Groups went on Meals on Wheels to deliver food to people in community each week. A group went to Dairy Queen on a beautiful day in March. We went shopping for items to make Shamrock Shakes for St. Patrick’s Day- I’m excited for that! The group had a fun time playing charades and guessing what each other was acting out. We’ve also been rearranging furniture in the center to change things up a bit.

Community Rehabilitation Program

When it starts snowing, people look out the window and get really excited. The snow falls down from the sky and makes everything turn white. It looks sparkly and beautiful.
Kids get super happy because sometimes school is closed. That means it’s a snow day! People put on their warm coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots so they don’t get too cold. Then they go outside to play.
Some people go sledding really fast down hills. Some build snowmen or snow forts. Others have snowball fights or make snow angels by lying in the snow and moving their arms and legs. Some people like ice skating, skiing, or snowboarding too.
Pets can have fun on snow days too! Dogs might run around, jump in the snow, or try to catch snowflakes with their mouths. Some pets leave cute paw prints everywhere. After playing outside, they come back in to get warm, dry off, and maybe enjoy a treat or a nap.
Not everyone wants to go outside, and that’s okay. Some people — and pets — like to stay inside where it’s warm. You can watch the snow from the window, play games, draw pictures, listen to music, or watch fun movies while your pet curls up next to you.
Snow days are also great for cozy snacks. People drink hot chocolate with marshmallows and eat warm treats. Pets might get special treats too. Everyone can sit by the fireplace or wrap up in blankets to get warm again.
A snow day is not just about the snow. It is about having fun, feeling cozy, and spending time with family, friends, and pets you love. Snow days can make very happy memories.
I hope you enjoy the rest of this winter! Stay warm!
