A message from our CEO. 05/26/2023

Dear Abilities friends and families,

Where does the time go? I think it’s been a year since I’ve shared a CEO message and so much has happened. We have been busy making a difference, and so have you! Below are agency updates which may interest you:

  • We continue to hire exceptional team members and our in-person program capacity is nearing 100%. Positions are still open – including the need for a part or full-time LPN for our medical program. Check out all our open positions here.
  • DDD remote day services will end in November 2023. Reach out to your supervisors to plan and adjust accordingly. You may be interested in coming back to day program in-person and/or choose CBS which is delivered in or out of your home.
  • Our 2021-22 Annual Report was released which includes success stories, milestones, outcomes, and statistics.
  • Are you looking for Youth Transition services? We have options! After great and continued success at Project Search Atlantic Health Newton, we have been selected as the service provider for Project Search Atlantic Health Hackettstown. We also have transition services on the campus of Warren Community College through the CAT program.
  • Thanks to a grant from Atlantic Health Hackettstown, our healthy cooking clubs are a big hit! We are getting fit and learning so much about healthy eating while sharing delicious recipes.
  • PossAbilities Thrift Flemington moved and expanded significantly in early 2023. Find us at our new location – 39A Reaville Ave, to the right of Planet Fitness. We continue to seek donations and volunteers at both locations in Phillipsburg and Flemington.
  • Village at Hawk Pointe apartments – constructions delays continue, but that doesn’t stop us from envisioning individuals living their best lives in this beautiful setting! We are now looking at late 2024/early 2025 for opening. Reach out to your Support Coordinator if you would like to be considered as a tenant.
  • We are so grateful to our legislators who are fighting hard for us during this budget season. They understand how critical our work is to the disability community and have shown it by supporting requests for additional funds in the FY2024 state budget. Let’s hope for a good outcome.
  • After two amazing and successful events, the Rossi Festival of Trees, and our Diamonds in the Sky Dinner Dance, we are gearing up for two more awesome events: Abili-Tees Golf tournament on 6/26/23 and the Sterbenz Miles of Smiles on 10/21/23. More information can be found here.
  • A great way to stay connected is to follow us on social media, including through our website news/blog.

Should you have any questions, at any time about anything, please feel free to call us at 908-689-1118 or email [email protected].

Thanks to our stakeholders, including various grantors and community partners, we can continue expanding services to support so many individuals and families in need. Our 2022 CARF accreditation report captured just how passionate we are about what we do…providing exceptional services and holding ourselves to the highest standards.

As we approach this Memorial Day, please remember to honor those who died while serving our great country and keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.

I wish you a very healthy and blessed summer season.

Warmest regards,
Cynthia B, Wildermuth, CEO
